We recently returned from a 10 day trek across California. It was the first time the boys had seen this great state and it really felt like the first time for me as my previous 3 trips were limited to flying into LAX and doing local stuff (visiting friends at Fuller Seminary, attending a friends’ wedding & an addictions conference).
So I feel like I never really truly experienced CA until this trip. Well, California has won me over, for so many reasons.
We were blown away by the breath taking views (Big Sur! Yes Sir!)
We were amazed at the mild (even cold) temperatures.
We loved the charm and beauty of San Francisco.
The crisp ocean air and gorgeous Pacific Coast beaches were very different from what we are used to on the Atlantic Coast & Gulf of Mexico. It’s like being in a different country.
The redwoods took our breath way.
The excitement and fun of Hollywood was a blast. We got to see many close friends and relatives (interesting that my most favoritest people live in CA!!)
Now it’s back to reality. And really, reality isn’t that bad! But I did order a huge canvas print of my favorite scene along the coast so I can put it in my bedroom and look at it everyday and pretend it’s the view out of my window!
I jokingly told Bill to look for a job on the West Coast. He asked me how serious I was & I still don’t know. I really felt comfortable and relaxed in CA. The people were so nice and relaxed. I always feel more at home the further West I go. Yet, I admit I love the change of seasons we have here. There is nothing more magical than a white Christmas and the Fall here is unbelievable. Spring ain’t too bad either with our famous cherry blossoms.
So, I dunno….not sure how serious I am. But for now I’ll keep gazing at my big “fake” window and imagine the sounds and smells of the coast and keep on dreaming about that lovely place.
